Summary:

The final version of the Windows Price List and Product Terms effective October 1, 2018 (RS5 terms) has been posted as part of the Ecosystem Engagement and Planning ("EEP") engagement. This communication provides an overview of the key Windows Price List and Product terms changes, links to the Windows Price List and Product Terms, and guidance on the Release to Manufacturing dates for the Codenamed “Redstone 5” (RS5) release.

RS5 RTM Guidance:

The Windows engineering team reached its internal RS5 Feature Complete milestone on June 15, 2018. Build 17704 is the Feature Complete build. The EEAP (Engineering Ecosystem Access Program) build 17704.1000.180623-1611 was published to MS Collaborate on Wednesday, June 27. Microsoft will continue to stabilize the builds over the next couple of weeks and expect to release Manufacturing Baseline Build (MBB) in early July.

At this time and based on current progress, we expect to meet the following milestones per the schedule below. These dates can change and we will notify you if that happens.

Key Windows Price List and Product Term Changes:

Thank you for your continued engagement and feedback during Ecosystem Engagement Planning rhythm. Microsoft has made several key changed based on OEM feedback. Please find the summary of the key changes below.

RS6 - New

  • ATs have been added to reflect the product fee changes effective May 1, 2019 for the following products:
    • Windows 10 Home for Value Single Language
    • Windows 10 Home in S mode for Value Single Languages
    • Windows 10 Pro
  • ATs have been added to reflect the hardware configuration changes effective May 1, 2019 for the follow products
    • Windows 10 Home for Entry
    • Windows 10 Home in S mode for Entry
    • Windows 10 Home in S mode for Value
    • Windows 10 Home for Value Single Language
    • Windows 10 Home Plus

     

RS5 SKU Reduction:

The majority of our OEM partners have asked that we create new SKUs for the SKU reduction transition.

The following new SKUs will be released to support the SKU reduction transition:
  • Windows 10 Pro for Entry Standard Version
  • Windows 10 Pro for Entry N Version
  • Windows® 10 Pro for Entry Simplified Chinese Language (PRC)
  • Windows® 10 Pro for Value Standard Version
  • Windows® 10 Pro for Value N Version
  • Windows® 10 Pro for Value Simplified Chinese Language (PRC)
  • Windows® 10 Home for Entry Single Language
  • Windows® 10 Home for Value Single Language
Windows 10 Pro for Workstations with Downgrade Facilitation

Windows 10 Pro with Downgrade Facilitation

Microsoft will not extend the end of license for Windows 10 Pro with Downgrade Facilitation and Windows 10 Pro for Workstations with Downgrade Facilitation (Standard Version or N Version) to June 30, 2019. Microsoft will retain the original end of license date of October 31, 2018 for those SKUs. OEM must not distribute or advertise the availability of these product after October 31, 2018.

The end of license for Windows 10 Pro with Downgrade Facilitation Simplified Chinese Language (PRC) and Windows 10 Pro for Workstations with Downgrade Facilitation Simplified Chinese Language (PRC) SKUs will be extended until June 30, 2018. However, Microsoft will end of license the Windows 7 Professional Simplified Chinese Language (PRC) on December 31, 2018 instead of the originally communicated date of June 30, 2019.

There will be no product fee increases for these SKUs.

Windows 10 Pro for Workstations Intel i9 and AMD Threadripper Requirements

Microsoft is moving the Intel Core i9 and AMD Threadripper requirements from the Windows 10 Pro for Workstations SKUs pricing tier into a new pricing tier called Windows Pro for High-end. This will result in new SKUs: Windows 10 Pro for High-end and Windows 10 Pro in S mode High-end. These new SKUs will list with a product fee of $134.00. All OEM customer systems distributed with Intel i9 or AMD Threadripper processors will be required to use these SKUs effective October 1, 2018. For clarity, the Intel i9 or AMD Threadripper processor requirement will be removed from the Windows 10 Pro for Workstation SKUs.

Shape the Future – National Academic Products
Updates for Shape the Future were only for clarity, with no material changes from the preview. These include:
  • Mapped the general AT for the GML requirement (AT 7003) to all of the Window 10 Pro (National Academic only) Products.
  • Ensured that the EOL AT for Downgrade (AT 1301) is clearly mapped to all of the Downgrade Facilitation Rights (National Academic only) Products, which EOL on October 31, 2018.
  • Added the Product ID’s for all of the Windows 10 Pro in S mode (National Academic only) Products, which were announced at Preview and become effective October 1, 2018.
  • Provided clarity to the language for the National Academic only (Plus) Products. Use of the NAO Plus Products is required when the Hardware Configuration Requirements are met.
  • Based on feedback, we provided more specific language for the leasing enablement that we announced at Preview for National Academic Products in K-12, and which becomes effective on October 1, 2018, in Developed Markets.

As a reminder the product IDs and part numbers for the new Windows 10 Pro in S mode SKUs will be available to OEMs on July 2, 2018.

Office Professional Academic products for the National Academic Program

New Office 2019 product versions are available to order on October 1, 2018 in conjunction with world-wide release of all Office 2019 products. Existing Office 2016 product versions will end of license on October 31, 2019.

OA2.1 Marker Requirement

The requirement for OEMs to include the OA2.1 marker on all Windows 10 Pro customer systems has been reduced to only be required on customer systems that also include a Processor that meets the processor Requirements for Windows 7 Professional Downgrade Software.

UEFI Notice Requirements:

Certain UEFI Notice Requirements have been removed.

Windows 10 Home

Entry and Value Single Language and Select Geo SKU

Microsoft is making the following changes to the distribution restriction for customer systems distributed to Brazil.

Microsoft is removing the distribution restriction for customer systems distributed to Brazil for the:

  • Windows 10 Home for Value Notebook Single Language Selected Geos SKUs
  • Windows 10 Home for Value Desktop Single Language Selected Geos SKUs
Microsoft is adding a distribution restriction for Brazil to:
  • Windows 10 Home Value in S mode Single Language SKU

In addition, Microsoft adding a HW configuration spec change for the following SKUs for customer systems distributed to Brazil only. OEMs may distribute customer systems with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage for entry SKUs and 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for value SKUs and Intel Core i3/M3 and AMD Ryzen 3/A10 processors.

  • Windows 10 Home in S mode for Entry Single Language
  • Windows 10 Home for Entry Notebook Single Language
  • Windows 10 Home for Entry Desktop Single Language
  • Windows 10 Home for Value Notebook Single Language Selected Geos

General

Processor List

The processor lists have been consolidated to reduce the number of individual list. A draft of the new consolidated processor list effective October 1, 2018 has been posted to DPC along with this communication. A final processor list will be published per the normal publishing cycle.

Pre-Existing Deal AT

The pre-existing deal AT has been removed. As a reminder PEV codes for any remaining pre-existing deal allocation will expire on September 30, 2018 and any DPK being used for a pre-existing deal must be bound by September 30, 2018.

Windows 10 Pro in S mode

The End of License for the Creators Update (RS3) release of Windows 10 Pro in S mode Product has been extended to November 12, 2018.

TPM

As a final reminder, as of July 1, 2018, all new device models, lines or series distributed in China must implement and be in compliance with the International Standard ISO/IEC 11889:2015 or the Trusted Computing Group TPM 2.0 Library and a component which implements the TPM 2.0 must be present and enabled by default from this effective date. Any existing models prior to June-30, 2018 will not be impacted and continue shipping as it is.
