COA End of License

The existing MAR Citizenship COA SKUs will End of License on December 31, 2021 (“EOL”). The EOL date is the last day that Microsoft-authorized replicators (“ARs”) may ship Program COA. MARs and TPRs may continue to install and Distribute Program COA in inventory after the EOL date and will not be required to return unused Product.

MARs should work with their ARs to manage quantity forecasts for supply of Program COAs and order requirements as ARs may set order cut-off timelines earlier than December 31, 2021.

The EOL date applies to the following Product as specified on the Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher Program Product Terms Document.

Returns

Any excess or unused inventory of Program COAs may be returned by MARs as per the MAR Program Execution Guide (PEG) of the Agreement on or before March 31, 2022 (see, Section 2 of MAR PEG).

MARs should follow the Onsite Destruction process set forth in Schedule 2.2(d) of the PEG instead of physically returning COAs. Standard return and credit eligibility guidelines apply.

MARs must manage any returns from TPRs and may set more restrictive requirements and timelines.

Next steps

  1. Please share this information within your organization and assess the changes required to prepare for the transition from COA to digital product keys.
  2. Ensure TPRs are aware of and prepared for the required transition from COA to digital product keys by December 31, 2021.
