Windows 10 21H1 Windows Release Adoption and Windows Release Testing Waiver

Introduction

This communication serves as notification of the upcoming Windows 10 Release, named "21H1", and the Market Development Agreement (MDA) Milestone 1 "Windows Release Testing", and Device Configuration Document for Tier 1 "Windows Release Adoption" requirement, associated with its release.

Details

Microsoft hereby provides a waiver of the requirement for OEMs to preinstall Windows 10 Release 21H1. This waiver applies to the following terms:

  • Windows Price List and Product Terms AT 1005 Section 2.1 (a)
  • Device Configuration Document 2021 for Tier 1, section 2.11
  • Market Development Program for Client Products 2021 Program Letter, section 2.1 (a)

This waiver applies only to this specific Windows Release and does not otherwise amend or modify the terms of the Agreement, the Device Configuration Document, or the Market Development Program.

Specific details of the waivers:

Windows Price List and Product Terms

AT 1005 Section 2.1 (a) Windows 10 Home Products preinstall is waived for Windows 10 Release 21H1.

2. Company must comply with the following technical requirements.

2.1 Windows Release Support

  1. Windows 10 Home Products. For each Windows 10 Home Customer System, Company must preinstall the most recent Windows Release within 180 days of the Windows Release RTM.

Device Configuration Document 2021 for Tier 1

Section 2.11 Windows 10 Release Adoption is recommended, but not required and therefore is waived for both Home and Pro for Windows Release 10 21H1.

Market Development Program for Client Products 2021 Program Letter

Section 2.1 (a) Windows Release Testing is recommended, but not required and therefore is waived for both Home and Pro for Windows 10 Release 21H1. Testing requirements and details will be published per normal schedule.
