Onboarding Users of DPC and all downstream portals to Microsoft Entra ID

Microsoft has discontinued the use of MSA accounts (@outlook.com, @live.com etc) to access Device Partner Center (DPC) and all downstream portals (Retail Partner Center, OEM BI, & DP Connector). From early May 2022 Microsoft will require users to sign into these applications using an Microsoft Entra ID (ME-ID) email address and password.

Starting on July 7, 2022 user accounts who are not using an Microsoft Entra ID login account will be deleted. Once deleted, the user will have to register and setup a new Microsoft Entra ID profile to access any content or downstream portal.

Update Summary – April 29, 2022

Beginning in May, the DPC team will start deactivating remaining MSA users. If you are impacted by this change, and cannot access DPC, OEM BI, RPC and DP Connector, please contact DPCSupp@microsoft.com for assistance. For additional information, please review the communication below.

Question:
Do all users need to migrate?
Answer:
Yes, if you need to access a downstream portal such as Device Partner Connector, OEM BI Central or Retail Partner Center. If you need to access sensitive secure content on DPC such as licensing and or pricing content, you will also need to migrate.
If you do not need access to the above portals or only access public content on DPC, you do not need to migrate, but we advise you to. If you do not migrate, you will not be able to retain any user preferences or may miss alerts you may have set up in the downstream portals.

Details

Microsoft is taking the next step in the journey to a Single Sign-On (SSO) by launching an MSA to Microsoft Entra ID migration program for current users of DPC and all downstream portals. From May 2022 users should have an Microsoft Entra ID (ME-ID) work account to sign into these applications.

This change will enable users in the future to benefit from a Single Sign-On (SSO) experience when accessing various Microsoft applications. It will also simplify security as companies will be able to manage account removal centrally when a user leaves a company.

Note that users who are already signing in with their Microsoft Entra ID work account will not need to take any action.

Next steps

Please inform all users of Device Partner Center (DPC) and all downstream portals (Retail Partner Center, OEM BI & DP Connector) within your organization of this upcoming change.

Action for you

  • Existing users will need to update the email address they sign in with, so it is an Microsoft Entra ID work account. We have posted a training to show you how to do this on DPC here.
  • New users will need to use an Microsoft Entra ID email address and password when setting up their account.
  • Users who are already signing in with their Microsoft Entra ID work account will not need to take any action.
  • Some users have an Microsoft Entra ID login and an MSA login, please ensure all DPC permissions are linked to your work account and only use your Microsoft Entra ID login going forward.
