Microsoft is pleased to announce that Final Disclosure documents for Ecosystem Engagement and Planning ("EEP") Holiday 2018 Redstone 4 have now been posted. This communication provides an overview of the release and links to the final licensing and draft program documents for 2019.

The EEP Framework is the vNext of the OEM OST (OEM Standard Terms) which has been in place for many years.  OST was primarily licensing driven, designed for a 2-3 year Windows release cycle and focused mainly on engagement with direct OEM partners across ~8 months from Fall to Final terms in May for the upcoming year starting Aug 1.

With the introduction of EEP our intent is to:

  • Broaden to an integrated business planning rhythm across engineering, sales and marketing covering growth priorities, portfolio planning, product strategy, big bets/opportunities, investments, pricing, licensing, technical readiness, GTM (bringing together Exec Forum, OST Tour, Tech Forum and GTM)
  • Coordinated engagement across ecosystem – from Silicon partners, to top OEMs and top retailers and on to scale partners
  • Two core “beats” per year aligned to partner device refresh and selling season
  • Cadence built off devices in market for Consumer and customer sell in for Commercial/Edu
  • Shorter sprints with defined gates for disclosure, feedback and close (~60 days)
  • Alignment with Windows engineering roadmap
